Pilates Reformer

The Pilates workout at The Thoreau Club is led by dedicated and passionate instructors who teach with integrity and personal attention to each member. The workout improves strength, flexibility and posture while streamlining body shape. Specific exercises emphasize deep abdominal muscles, breathing and body-mind awareness resulting in flatter core and sculpted body. If you want to improve your tennis swing, relieve back/neck/hip/leg pain, recover from your post-baby body, or strengthen muscles without lifting weights - we can help you get there!

There are several Pilates approaches available at The Thoreau Club. You can pick and choose between:

Pilates Mat Classes - included in the Group Fitness Schedule. Mat classes work for beginners and advanced students. Pilates Bootcamp features higher repetitions of core intensive work, not recommended for beginners.

Pilates Reformer - The Thoreau Club offers Pilates Reformer training because we find it yields great results and is fun and enjoyable. Our knowledgeable, caring and creative instructors help you achieve peak body performance through reformer workouts. Each class is a choreographed routine of exercises that stabilize and engage your “powerhouse” (abdomen, lower back and glutes), strengthen, stretch and lengthen your body. We offer private and small group classes. All classes are by reservation only.

Pilates Reformer Jumpboard - Combine the core focus of Pilates with the cardiovascular challenge of jumping and you have your 1 hour workout done! The class is intelligently organized to optimize fluid transitions between strength work and interval jumping that elevates the heart rate for weight lose and muscle toning. We offer private and small group classes. All classes are by reservation only.

Barre Beat - is a total body workout that lifts your seat, tones your thighs and burns fat in record-breaking time! Using a ballet barre, your instructor coaches you through small isometric movements set to fantastic music. The technique protects your joints while targeting abs, hips, seat and arms. It’s an uplifting workout. As long as you can hold on to the barre you can do Barre Beat - no dance experience is necessary! The positions and movements are basic, it’s how deep you work in them that makes the difference. We offer Barre Beat classes in small group sessions. All classes are by reservation only.
